In Abstract Expressions P.II. her latest solo exhibition, Sona Mirzaei unveils new works from her ongoing collection In Search of Splendor. From first sight, a robustly exuberant expressionistic statement is revealed. From the seeming array of color, design and sense of freedom in each piece, emerges a thematic and richly textured visual story that link the works to communion with her audience. There is a broad sense of diversity and openness to Sona’s work. She places color at the very heart of what she is trying to convey as an artist. The layering of oils, acrylics, and mixed media forms, create dimensions that enhance and draw out the emotional content that Sona manifests on her canvases in ways that are visually striking and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
