Beginners Workshop – Still Life Painting

Mondays 10am : 3 hours : 4 weeks, Feb. 11 – Mar 4, 2019

What you’ll learn in this painting class:
You will learn everything you need to know to get started with painting. From materials and setup, to under-paintings and color theory.  We will learn simple approaches to utilize the standard principles and techniques used by all artists .We will explore composition, color mixing and paint application to produce finished paintings. Special attention will be given to each student’s needs during the session.
This class is designed for beginners to build confidence in artistic ability, individuality, and self-expression. All levels are welcome.

MATERIALS
Materials packages can be provided by the instructor, please inquire 

Oil Paint 
(avoid water-soluable oil paint, you can also choose to use acrylic paint,
beginners paints sets would work)

Suggested paint colors & materials
Cadmium Red (light or medium)
Alizarin Crimson
Cadmium Yellow Light or Lemon Yellow
Cadmium Yellow Deep
Ultramarine blue
Cobalt Blue
Paynes Grey
Burnt Sienna
Titanium White

4-6 Canvases, Panels, Gesso Boards, or Preferred Surface, various sizes but larger than 10” x 10″
Paper Towels – Blue Automotive Towels or Viva Brand work best
Palette, or pad of palette paper
Palette Knife
Linseed Oil and small container with lid
Gamsol (or odor free paint thinner) in a jar with a lid

Brushes 
2-3 natural bristle brushes of varying size from 1/2 cm to 1 1/2 inch, square shape 
1-2 round bristle brushes 
2-3 sable or synthetic “softer” brushes
